Life is precious and fleeting. We all know this, however, we spend many of our days just mindlessly going through the motions. Another day at the same miserable job, another load of laundry, another trivial distraction. Then there are days when something big happens; something devastating that stops us in our tracks — someone you love unexpectedly winds up in the hospital or a family member passes away.
When we suffer a personal loss, it reminds us that we aren't invincible, that life is going by one moment at a time. At times like these, we begin to look inward. The truth is, we're all going to die. Everyone we love, everything we have will one day be gone. Although this may seem grim, maybe we can take a moment to realize the glass is half full: we’re still alive today. We still have memories to make and we still have time to craft our future.
So how do we make the most of our lives while we're living them? You don't need to climb Mount Everest or set a Guinness world record to live a life you can smile about on your deathbed. It's all about mindfulness.
