21 Summer Activities to Stress Less | Acheloa Wellness
Updated: Feb 7
Summer is great for everything: beautiful weather, long weekends and exciting adventures. I’ve listed some fun summer activities in the New York area, but most ideas can be enjoyed anywhere. Use this list as a to-do for a fun summer and refer to it often. To keep costs low, search for Groupon, Pulsd or Gilt City deals. Don’t forget, some of these ideas below are also free. No need to overpay for a great time!
Bike ride anywhere.
Picnic on Governor’s Island, NYC.
Spend a day at the beach.
Balance on a slackline.
Escape to Fire Island, NY.
Leap off a plane at your nearest Skydiving facility.
Zip through the woods with a zip lining excursion.
Rent wave runners, jet skis or paddleboards on your nearest lake.
Go fishing. For those who aren’t early birds, try crabbing.
Rent kayaks, rafts, canoes or tubes for an exciting day on the river.
Play in the sprinklers, or better yet, find a slip-n-slide.
Learn how to sail.
Complete a 5k fun run (The Color Run, Color Me Rad, Spartan Race, Relay Race, etc.).
Try a surfing lesson.
Attend a live concert (Central Park Summerstage, Jazz Age Lawn Party, Made in America).
Play beach volleyball. Make some new friends in the process, too.
Grill some veggies (or even fruits) at your next barbeque. Grilled pineapple is delicious.
Watch the Perseid meteor shower
Hike a national or state park.
Find a safe place to go cliff/waterfall jumping… then jump.
Road-trip to someplace epic.
Catch fireflies in a mason jar.
Read a book outside with some freshly brewed iced tea.
Find firework show… if you look for a schedule of firework displays in neighboring towns, you may be able to catch a few consecutive nights!
Watch a great flick at your nearest drive-in movie theater.
Summer has officially started and will fly by if you let it. Plan your weekends now to make the most of the warm months.
