9 Ways to Managing Stress during the Corona Virus | Acheloa Wellness
This past week, I received a lot of messages from loving members in our community who are feeling scared, overwhelmed and distracted because of the Corona Virus. My hope is to support each of you with some simple words that can help manage stress during this unprecedented time.
Daily Reminder: “There are things I have control of and there are things that are out of my control. To the extent that I worry about the things that are out of my control, I’m setting myself up for panic, hysteria, mental anxiety, stress and overwhelm.”
At Acheloa Wellness, we empower incredible people do incredible things that are effected by stress. Whether it’s workplace burnout or Corona Virus, many of us are experiencing those same feelings of fear and uncertainty. At this time, like all other times, we have to focus on and address what is within our control.
Things that are contagious and can affect our communities:
Peace and calm – WARNING: being calm can be contagious. Be mindful to spread that as far and wide as possible.
Humor – laughter contributes to curing a multitude of illnesses!
Now’s a perfect time to manage stress by practicing love, encouragement, patience and calm. In each moment and exchange, you have a choice to add to the chaos or quell it. Choose consciously.
Things that are not cancelled because of the Corona Virus:

9 Ways to manage stress and boost immunity during the Corona Virus:
Wash your hands, ALL OF YOUR HANDS, including the back of the hand, webbings between fingers and underneath rings. Keep the lather going for 20 seconds, which can be done by singing a verse of your favorite song.
Add spice to your food (and your life!) - Your spice rack can be as powerful as your medicine cabinet. Some of my favorite immunity boosting spices are ginger, garlic, cinnamon, black pepper and oregano, but there are so many others out there that are just waiting to heal you. Not only will your food be tastier, but many of these spices are packed with antiseptics that will help you fight against the first sign of Corona Virus or other illness.
Go outside and take in the sunshine – There’s much to say about getting out in nature and taking in the fresh air. Not only are you social distancing, but your boosting your immunity.
Exercise– Moving your body continues to dislodge bacterias and viruses that are stuck in your body.
Play! - Make time to play around with your partner, roommate, kids or loved ones. Being happy is good for your immunity and takes time away from the black hole of social hysteria.
Drink warm water – Drinking warm water moves germs from lungs, esophagus to the stomach where your stomach acids are strong enough to kill the germs.
Breathe – One breathing technique I love this time of year is Kapalabhati, breath of fire. It’s the perfect way to start your day and awaken your digestive fire.
Neti is the practice of using a saline/salt-water solution to cleans out your nasal cavity and sinuses. This helps to move stuck bacteria and germs. Gargling salt water in your throat is another beneficial practice that helps clear the throat and esophagus of nasty impurities.
Take some personal space – Social distancing shouldn’t just be during times of a pandemic but taken as a regular dose of medicine to keep your mind, body and soul feeling nourished. We can all benefit from more personal space.
Although there’s many lessons from this past week, one stands out to me: We’re nothing without our health. These immunity boosting techniques are simple and don’t require much effort in our daily lives, but, most of us aren’t making time for these small simple ways we can keep our health and well-being a priority. Now that Corona Virus is here, we need to be strategizing for today, tomorrow and our far future… not only for ourselves, but our loved ones and our extended communities.
Why wait until another epidemic strikes? Why wait until your neighborhood is impacted? Let’s embrace self-care not as a luxury, but as an immunity boosting way to save the world. It’s time to level-up.
I’m not saying this because I’m above it; I’m preaching to myself. I can easily fill these passing days with a lot of news clutter and stress. I can run from store to store searching for toilet paper or I can take some time to play, love, hike, do and BE.
This isn’t to belittle the anxiousness others are feeling or short-changing how many are losing work, income or savings. There are many of you out there that have contracted or are yet to contract this virus, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take some control back into our own hands.
Do what you can do and don’t obsess about it. Take care of yourself, your loved ones and your community and keep going on with your life. If you’re feeling that you need more support to breakthrough this feeling of stuck, reach out. I’m happy to support each of you using the amazing tricks and tools that have been passed down to me.
Sending abundant love, calm and strong immunity to each of you!
